Old and new school
First references of schooling in Frenz were made in 1530 and 1559. Nevertheless, the first school was not built until 1843.

Because of the large number of pupils (110 Catholic and 7 Jewish children), the dance hall above the Wertz‘s inn (today Müller‘s inn) had to be temporarily set up as a second schoolroom.
Attempts to buy the former Villa Baldus in 1896, both as a pastorate building and as a school, failed.
On October 15th, 1900, the enlarged school building (based on the existing building) was completed (see photo on the left).

Works began in April 1946 to repair the old school building which had severely been damaged during the war.

In July 1963, planning began for a new school, which was inaugurated on September 3rd, 1965.
Without the stage extension on the left, the school’s exterior still corresponds to its original form.
Last classes took place, however, in 1981.
The school buildings which were taken over by the newly founded „Interessenkreis Schule“ after tough negotiations with the municipality of Inden, rebuilt and extended, and a stage extension was added. Thus, the school could have saved from imminent demolition.
Since February 13th, 1987, the premises in their present form have been available as a meeting and celebration venue for festivities of the local associations, mainly for large events of the KG-Frenzer Burgnarren and the Schützenbruderschaft Frenz, but also for private purposes and events.
