Location: The Cornelius Chapel („Et Kapellchen“)

On 13 April 1860, the foundation stone was laid for the „new“ Cornelius Chapel in Lamersdorf. The old “little“ church“ had to give way for the construction of the Chaussee (L 241).
Beforehand, there had been a dispute between Pastor Hermeling and the owner of the land, brewer and farmer Hubert Bardenheuer, who wanted to build a tavern on the same site. The plot had already been marked out for the construction of the pub. Pastor Hermeling and sexton Conen tore out the stakes again in a dispute.
The solemn blessing of the Cornelius Chapel took place on 13 August in 1860 with 1100 people in attendance.
The chapel, especially the roof, was freed from its war damage and repaired on 18 August 1950. The costs were borne by the St. Cornelius Schützenbruderschaft, which collected the money from its members.
Even today, the „Kapellchen“ is a focal point for many worshippers. It is also the starting point for the annual procession in September for the „Cornelius Octave“, in which the relic is led through the village to the church for glorification.

„Hurray, the water pipe has arrived!“
So goes the word from mouth to mouth in Lamersdorf on 01 July 1936. For on this day the new water main was put into operation.
Until that day, the old village pumps had done their duty for centuries and ensured the drinking water always needs of people and animals.
In addition, everyday commodities took place at the pump next to the chapel, such as the slaughtering, gutting and washing of pigs and chickens.
The pump that still exists here is one of three that existed in Lamersdorf. At the time of its use, it stood on the market square next to the village cross.
